" There have been , on average , 1 school shooting every week this year." according to (www.cnn.com). We're only a few months into 2018 and there have been 23 school shootings where someone was injured or even killed. The first shooting this year was on January 20th in Winston Salem , North Carolina. This year only, there were many shooting that have happened. Everyone is considered about how to stop these shootings. The answer to this question is not simple or cheap either. How many have to die ?

How many have to die... if more than 30 students have been killed in a school shooting?

How many have to die ...so everyone can speak up about the subject ?

How many have to die ...until gun control is taken seriously ?

How many have to die...until adults stop sending their kids to school ?

How many have to die..so our students suffer more and more PTSD ?

How many have to die...until America realizes that they need to do more ?

Our Issues...Our World

Our Issues... where we push them away like its nothing

Our World... where crime does not convict ,but race does

Our Issues..where parents are afraid for their children in school

Our World...where we push away our nation's problems even if they kill us

Our Issues .. the ones we don't speak for but our voice can make a change

Our world... where all lives matter but our children's live are at stake

Our Issues...where us students can't be in school without feeling unsafe

Our world...if we don't take actions into our own hands , we will barley have a nation to worry about

Every Bullet Was A Mistake

Written by Alicia Contreras

Never in their lives has the daytime seemed much eerie, seemed so much darker than the cold, black night time was. The daytime is when you should be free, peaceful and jocund, not huddled together, with tears streaming down their faces in a dark classroom, afraid that the man with a gun will come in and take their lives.

Mrs. Trudy Turner was head of Raymond F. Price High School, whose tight grip on the school kept them unperturbable. They had won championships after championships, put their students to the test and exceeded expectations, went to war and came back flying their colors. Their football team and cheerleading team was full of top-notch athletes, who never missed a practice. The academic kids who spent all their time in the library studying - the quiet AV Club nerds and the band geeks were more or less underappreciated. Though, Mrs. Turner was a woman who greatly appreciated every subject; no matter how big or small. Mr. Seyfried was the 10th grade Algebra teacher who had been there for twenty two years, and knew the school like the palm of his hand. He was a short man, about five foot two, with gray hair and freckled skin. He had a warm laugh and was always willing to help out. He kept his students out of trouble and maintained his perfect record; every student passing his class. The building was rather big, so big that you could get lost in it easily. Getting lost was a common phenomenon. Teachers would ask, "Why were you late?" freshman year, and then remember that their kids didn't even know where the bathroom was. It was a big and scary building, with lights flickering on and off, broken doors and windows, broken bells and cracked tiles.

The students at Raymond Price, were a different story. Specifically a group of sophomores who did not fit the ideal image that the school proudly hailed. The sophomores lived in infamy due to the nature of them always pulling pranks on people, cracking crude jokes in the hallways and causing discord in the school. Not all students who broke the rules were caught. The sly ones slid by, and they swore their hijinks into secrecy. Sharon and Veronica Ashford, who were star cheerleaders and twin sisters, were known for always ratting people out. "Look, it's the snitch twins!" Travis Carter would rudely call out upon seeing them. They would scoff, running their fingers through their long blonde hair, before turning away and leaving. They were joined by the hip. It was Henry Boyd that was a target of bullying; His life had been a mess of abuse, abandonment, anger and neglect. His father left when he was very young and his mother was so cruel towards her son, beating him every night and verbally abusing him every waking moment. He was bullied for his stutter, and how he barely had any friends. He lived with his grandfather who was a drug addict; and poor little Henry was all alone.

They had never expected something so terrible to happen in their small town, in their humble school. Henry had brought a gun to school in his backpack and hid it in there until seventh period. He went into the hallway with his backpack and started shooting in the corridor.

"This is a lockdown. This is not a drill. I repeat, this is a lockdown."

Mr. Seyfried's homeroom was panicking. Oh, and they had the right to. They heard gunshots down the hallway, people screaming and crying. Mr. Seyfried rushed to lock the door and close the blinds. They heard Henry coming down the hallway, shooting bullets and stepping heavy down the hallway. Mr Seyfried's Mr. Seyfried knew the school like his life depended on it. And it did.

They jumped out the window since they were on the first floor. And they got out safely.

Henry Boyd was arrested.
